Finally ready is our shaving brush and safety razor range hand made utilising the teak decking stored for sixty years by the Royal Navy as replacement decking for the Royal Yacht. Tough old teak which as well as it’s historic connections was the finest teak the Navy could obtain and for sixty years it has matured and hardened.

We have a further range of items made with this teak including pens and gentlemen's pocket knives

The teak was disposed of on the decommissioning of HMY Britannia and it was the last ship in the Royal Navy to utilise teak decking. To make the shaving brushes the teak had to be at least two inches thick. Can you imagine batting down the channel in a force 9 gale. A liveried flunky carefully administering an open razor to your face for your morning shaving ritual. A cat o’ nine tails gently swinging back and forth on the stateroom door ready to move into action should your servant make a slip. Well we cannot promise you that but it is very nice teak with considerable historic connections

All our ranges of folding knives utilsing historic wood are unique to us and most of the wood is in very short supply.

The safety razor and the shaving brush come with a letter on hand made paper telling you about the wood. Both items are made in a limited edition of fifty of each and your letter will be numbered and signed by me. Remember that the shaving brush needs to be dried and hung upside down on  a shaving stand to enable the water to run off. This is most important. The razor should also be dried off and it’s a good idea not to put it in a shaving a bag where it will absorb the damp. Even after sixty  years of maturing and being cared for by the Royal Navy your wood still needs cherishing. You can purchase a sheath for the razor on our ‘Razor’ page other wise the razor comes in a plain black box.

A quality shaving brush with the added distinction of being made utilising the teak stored for over sixty years by the Royal Navy for use on the Royal Yacht. The Royal Yacht until it was decommissioned was the last ship in the Royal Navy which had a teak deck. The shaving brushes are handmade and are a limited numbered edition of fifty of each. Each brush being accompanied by a signed letter on handmade paper carrying the number of the piece and providing details of the brush. This is a superb shaving brush made utilising silver tip badger hair. We needed the teak to be two inches thick to make the brush and very little of this fine wood was available to that thickness. This is a heritage piece steeped in British history. The brush stands four and quarter inches high and you should read the information above for it’s care and storage. It comes in a wooden box and the price includes first class postage within the UK and the wooden box as shown below. I  would imagine teak of this age and hardness is just about the finest wood you could have for a shaving brush.
