Limited Edition Safety Razors for wet shaving using antique wood.

Cecils Safety Razors

Britannia safety razor1

For some years we have hunted down antique wood in reclamation yards and the internet. We have also tried to find the craftsmen still prepared to make our products in the small quantities we require. This safety razor is in a limited edition of fifty and each piece comes boxed in a plain black box accompanied by a letter on handmade paper describing the razor and it’s making.

The wood used in this safety razor is from the British Royal Navy and is  the finest teak stored for sixty years and the razor is unique to us sold at a price little different to a mass produced item.  Hand made by craftsmen largely using the skills of hand and eye they are not mass produced and little of the teak remains.

The last ship in the Royal Navy to use teak decking was the Royal Yacht and on decommissioning of that ship we acquired some of that teak which had been stored for over sixty years by the Navy.

The price of this safety razor includes 1st class postage withing the UK and is 35

These safety razors are a tribute to the memory of my Uncle Cecil. Cecil was a frequent visitor to the public houses round Manchester City Centre and also considered himself to be a bit of an inventor. He met his end on foggy night on Manchester Picadilly when he was run over by a trolley bus. His proudest achievement was a two foot long working model of Trafford Road Swing Bridge composed out of used match sticks. It was kept in the front room and after his demise his wife used it piece by piece to light the fire.  With words along the lines of well I got some use out of him after all and that was the end of both Cecil and his matchsticks.

wrap round mug last 300

We have a shaving mug with the lettering derived from the trade card of one Cecil’s early ill fated business ventures. Click on the image to see it.

somme centenary

2016 marked the centenary of one of the bloodiest battles in British military history. The Somme is a place where cemeteries mark virtually every yard of the course of the battle. We have a Sheffield made folding knife made with the walnut from Lee Enfield rifle butts which you can see by clicking on the image above.
